Congratulations are in order for Tori Pryce who placed second in the District's essay competition for 2010. Tori, sponsored by the Sunset Optimist Club, was challenged to write an essay on the topic "The Internet: Today's Evolution or Tomorrow's Menace?"
Each year, the Essay Contest is sponsored by Optimist International to give young people the opportunity to write about their own opinions regarding the world in which they live. The approach can encompass a young person’s personal experience, the experience of their country or a more historical perspective. In additional to developing skills for written expression, participants also have the opportunity to win a college scholarship of up to $US6,000!
Tori's essay was selected for the top 3 from 14 zone entrants. As such, she will also receive a cash prize from the NCB Foundation, a sponsor of the event. Congratulations again to Tori, LTG Latoya and all the members of the Sunset Optimist Club of Liguanea who aided in her success.
