Labour Day 2014

On Labour Day, Friday, May 23 seven of our Sunset Optimist Club of Liguanea members made a trip to the Muirton Boys Home in Manchioneal Portland. We took a tour of the premises including their farm which had pigs, chickens and goats. The Manager, Mrs. Esther Gooden, gave us the tasks of planting flowers and vegetable seeds. We also assisted in painting the half-way house which she hopes will be open soon for new boys. Take a look at the pictures to see how the day went!

Celebrating Children at Webster Memorial

On Sunday, May 18, the Sunset Optimist Club of Liguanea celebrated Child's Month with the Webster Memorial United Church. In attendance were many of our members along with members of our JOOI Clubs from Kingston College and the Queens School. We participated in the service by bringing a reading which was done by President Tetrice; and one of the students did a wonderful dance, which the congregation enjoyed. President Tetrice also made a donation on behalf of the club members of funds to be put towards the Church School programme. The service was well attended and also well received and it was a wonderful opportunity for our club members and JOOI members to fellowship with one another.
