Message from the President

In 1999, a friend invited me to join a group of persons who would be forming an international club with an emphasis on helping children. I was interested in learning more about this movement, as I love children and am interested in their care and protection. Along with a group of likeminded individuals, we were chartered as the Sunset Optimist Club of Liguanea.

Following the hard work and footprints left by all the past presidents, it is indeed an honour and privilege to join this distinguished group and serve as president for the 2012-2013 year.

As a club it is our mission to improve the lives of the children whom we serve. This has been done through a variety of community projects which include mentorship, movie nights, Christmas and Easter treats, health fair, doing improvement work on children’s homes, basic schools, hospital, and book drives to add books to school library. In order for us to accomplish our mission, we conduct a variety of fund raising ventures.

It is hard work, but it is rewarding work, our children are our future and we do invite members, friends and family to join us in this worthy endeavour. I must say thanks to that friend, our current secretary, who took me along with her on this journey where it is my privilege to work with the hardworking members of this club "Making a difference....one child at a time"
