End of Year Updates!

On November 14, 2013 the Sunset Optimist Club of Liguanea inducted a new member, Joan Ellis-Beecher. Joan is a budget analyst by profession but truly enjoys hands-on volunteer work. We are excited to welcome her to the Optimist Family. Welcome Joan!

SOCoL also celebrated Youth Appreciation Week from November 25 - 29, 2013. We took part in a meeting at one of our JOOI clubs, the Fortis Octagon Club of Kingston College on Thursday, November 28, 2013 where we provided refreshments to their club. SOCoL was represented by Director Glaister Green.

Then on Friday, November 29, 2013, members of the Sunset Optimist Club of Liguanea took part in a mass inter-clubbing meeting hosted by the Octagon Club at Wolmer's Boys High School. This showed representation from multiple schools including two of our sponsored JOOI Clubs from Kingston College and the Queen's School. We also invited students from our mentorship partnership at Cumberland High School. At this event Director Marc-Maurice Frankson made a presentation to the students on Leadership. President Tetrice Prendergast was in attendance as well as with Secretary Sharon Passley-Brown and Director Glaister Green. It was a wonderful event.

  1. This end-of-year update caps what has been a very interesting and dynamic Q1 under your belt, President Tetrice and for that I say congratulations to you and all members of the Sunset Optimist Club of Liguanea family. Looking forward to Q2 with much anticipation as we continue to uncover the gifts of our children.
